Last week we bottled our first wine from the 2014 vintage, The Edge Pinot Gris 2014.
The 2013-2014 growing season was exceptional, with a mild spring and warm sunny summer and autumn which produced great looking fruit with amazing ripe flavours. The Pinot Gris was picked between the 28th March and the 6th April prior to the Easter rain.
The Edge Pinot Gris was tank fermented at a cool temperature to retain the delicate perfumed fruit flavours. It is made in an off dry style with 4.3g/L of residual sugar retained in the wine, combining with the naturally low acid that Pinot Gris is renowned for.
Currently the wine shows pear and white stone fruit flavours with a soft ripe backbone and long lingering finish. This wine will make a great aperitif or combine beautifully with light fish or pasta dishes, perfect for the spring and summer months.
Our first pallet was sent to our distributor Vintners (http://www.vintners.co.nz/) in Auckland last week and we look forward to hearing your feedback about the wine.
